No you don't. :-)
Everytime someone posts to the list, all of us will get a copy. At first,
this will be a little tedious, as we all write in to confirm that the list
is working. After a while, we will be able to have some interesting
discussions re: health education, as a group.

Anyone who wishes to communicate privately, should send mail to their

- motivation and support of clients in health counseling (Ms. Rantanen)
- an intervention trial for prevention of atherosclerosis in early childhood

- AIDS knowledge among school children (Ms. Potsonen et al.)
- Health education teaching at the U of Turku Medical School (Dr. Ojanlatva)
Additionally, Dr. M. Rimpela has a literature review on health education and

The Community Health Research Unit, a system-linked research unit in
Ottawa, Canada announces the availability of four e-mail discussion
groups which are based on a LISTSERV-like program. This program redirects
e-mail to subscribed participants. Four discussion groups have been set
up. These include discussion groups on behaviour change strategies, fall
prevention in the elderly, community mobilization/development and general
community health issues. In order to join the discussion groups, you need
to subscribe to the group. You can send two types of messages:
instructions/commands (e.g. subscribe) and messages for other members.
These two types of messages are sent to different e-mail addresses.
Commands are sent to:
   listserv@zeus.med.uottawa.ca

Messages are sent to:
    group_name@zeus.med.uottawa.ca

To subscribe:
  Send an e-mail message to:
    listserv@zeus.med.uottawa.ca

The body of the message should be:
   subscribe group_name first_name last_name

Note that first_name and last_name should be your actual name, not a
computer account name. Also, some e-mail programs may ask you for a
'subject' line. This can be left blank since the program ignores it.

To send a message to the group, prepare your e-mail message in the usual
way. Address it to:
 group_name@zeus.med.uottawa.ca

Replace group_name by the name of the discussion group you are sending to:
  falls, behaviour, comm_dev or general.

My colleagues and I have received funding from the Canadian Government to
produce a 'state of the art' literature review on smoking during pregnancy
and postpartum. We are interested in identifying research literature and
relevant resources which may not be accessible through peer reviewed
literature. Among the topics we will be covering in our report are:
- theoretical models which provide the basis for successful smoking
cessation programs during pregnancy and postpartum
- smoking cessation programs for pregnant women with special needs eg.
aboriginal, ethnic minorities, postpartum women whose partners smoke etc.
- self-help groups and smoking cessation
-the experience of smoking cessation during pregnancy or postpartum
I would be interested in hearing from others who are currently conducting
research or providing services of relevance.

God forbid we start a flame war over this!!!! I'm sure we will all get it

Brick is located at the CDC in Atlanta. I don't have his address but believe
you could reach through the general operator at CDC.

May I add my congratulations to Bob Gold's, and raise a toast to the
connectivity of health educators. I agree with Bob that individuals
should be aware that they need not communicate with each other on two-way
private matters through the HEDIR, which tends to clutter everyone's e-mail.

I am using a reply option knowingly as I would like anyone having the
information to respond.

In the AAHERPD Update (1993), there was a mention about the National
Employee Fitness Day, with 3 136 employers participating. I have been asked
to check how many employers participated in 1993 (the previous figure had
been for 1992). If anyone would have the 1993 figure, I (we) would appreciate
it very much. Thank you in advance. Ansa.Ojanlatva@sara.cc.utu.fi

Subject: Update for February 1

This message is being sent for Mark Kittleson. The
February 1 update on the health education directory
may be delayed by a few days. Dr. Kittleson has
inadvertently screwed up his commands to edit
the listserv, and the person from the SIU computer
center is out of town until the end of the month. The
update will be forwarded as soon as possible.
Dr. Kittleson can receive and send individual messages,
and he is attempting to send messages through the
hedir listserv, but to no avail.

Thanks for your patience.
