The Environmental Proctection Agency offers a wonderful kit addressing
secondhand smoke and smoke free homes.
The kit incorporates a wide range of stratgies, including: The
Smoke-Free Home Campaign, a tool to use to secure commitments from
parents to make their home smoke free. The Secondhand Smoke Media
Campaign-a multi-media outreach campaign with
materials for use in television,radio and newspapers. The American Lung
Association Guide,"Secondhand Smoke and
Children: Conducting Public Outreach Programs", a guide for conducting
local
projects". Included in the packet are booklets entitled "Take the
Smoke-Free home
Pledge...go out for your kids". This booklet offers, at no cost,a
Smoke-Free Home Kit which includes tips on keeping your home smoke-free,
a smoke-free home magnet and a smoke-free home certificate.
Call 1-800-513-1157 to request the brochures and the community action
kit.

We are pleased to announce the following individuals have joined the Division of Health and Safety at Texas A&M University. We are very fortunate to have these fine professionals join our growing ranks of health education faculty.
Dr. Ranjita Misra, Assistant Professor
Dr. Misra joins TAMU from Ohio University. She is interested in health of special populations and community health issues.
Dr. Nilesh Chatterjee, Assistant Professor
Dr. Chatterjee comes to TAMU from the UT School of Public Health. He has just competed work with the CDC syphilis project in Houston. His focus is community and public health.
Dr. Stacey Stephens, Lecturer
Dr. Stephens will serve as a part-time lecturer in the area of environmental health. She is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University. Her area of focus is community health.
Dr. Thomas Tai Seale, Visiting Assistant Professor
Dr. Tai Seale joins the Division as a visiting assistant professor. His interests are in community health empowerment and service learning.
