There will be a Latebreaker Session for poster presentations on
Wednesday, March 27, 2002 morning (8-9AM) for the Second Annual
Scientific Meeting of the American Academy of Health Behavior in Napa
Valley, CA (March 24-27, 2002). We are inviting you to submit an
abstract for this session.


The deadline for receipt of your abstract is Friday,
January 18th. You will be notified of the results of the abstract
review within one or two weeks. You can find the instructions for your
abstract submission at www.aahb.org/abstracts and full information
about the conference at the American Academy of Health Behavior website
(www.aahb.org). You must be registered for the conference to present
your research.

Dear Colleagues,
The NCAA is looking for individuals interested in assisting in the selection
process of our CHOICES Alcohol Education Grant awards. This year's
proposals are due in the NCAA office February 15, 2002, and will be sent to
readers by March 1. We will need readers' scores and comments back by April
1. Each reader can expect to receive 3-5 proposals to review and score.
The NCAA does not provide compensation for readers' time, but we do thank
each reader with a small token of our appreciation.
The Reader Reply Form is cut and pasted below so as not to violate the "no
attachments" policies of our lists. If you are interested, please complete

For those of you involved with professional preparation, you might find
this contest of value...


AAHE Contest
Best Health Education Photo Presentation


What: A minimum of 5, maximum of 25 slide, 3-5 minute Power Point
Presentation. The pictorial will be used to display pictures on the AAHE
website that characterize elements of our professional role, target
audience and outcomes we desire to influence.


Eligible Participants: Any group of college health education students at
an academic institution with a degreed program in health education or
related field. All groups must be supervised by a professional who has at
least one degree in health education (CHES eligible).


Theme: The Best Health Education Photo Presentation Contest presentation
should be representative of what health educators do. It is encouraged
that the presentation focus on the health education competencies
(undergraduate, graduate or both) across the five work settings. The slide
show is to be action focused, reflecting a diverse population.


Submissions are due to the AAHE headquarters no later than April 1,
2002. Submissions are to include: 1) a diskette or zip drive (100 MB
only) with the slide show; 2) signed permission from all people who are
identifiable in the slide show (identify the slide number, with individuals
from left to right); 3) if slides are obtained from the Internet, location
of such slides and copyright permission (if applicable); 4) a file with
credit to individuals who took specific photos.


All PowerPoint presentations and photos submitted in the contest will
become the property of AAHE/AAHPERD. All entries will be posted on the AAHE
web page. Winners will be announced over the HEDIR and the AAHE web page.
Future use of any photos by AAHE will reflect appropriate credit.


Winners will be announced at the Health Education luncheon and the HEDIR
Technology Seminar, in AAHE's San Diego conference.


Awards: All submissions will be acknowledged by AAHE and all contributors
will receive a special gift from AAHE. The winning presentation will be
provided a one year student membership for all contributors (maximum of 5
students). The advisor/instructor of the group will receive the choice of a
Palm Pilot (or equivalent) or a digital camera.


AAHE has the right to withdraw the contest offer and withhold any or all
prizes in the case of fewer than 4 eligible entries. In the event the
contest is cancelled, the presentations received will be returned to the
participants.Otherwise, no presentations/slides received will be returned
to participants.
