Hello:

I was wondering if someone could recommend a good survey instrument that assesses change in knowledge or awareness related to Sudden Infant Death...SIDS education?

Thanks very much!

In my quest to make increasing use of the web, I plan to learn to use
Adobe Acrobat (not the Reader but the software to make the pdf
documents.) Does anyone have any experience with a good manual for
learning to create documents using Acrobat?

Thanks.
Val

Val,

Creating Adobe files is not terribly complicated. I found an excellent self-study to Adobe Acrobat 4.0 Classroom in a Book, 2nd Edition by Adobe Creative Team

Did you know you can create Microsoft Word documents and save them in .pdf
formats? Just in case you don't want to learn a new software.

I just purchased Acrobat and am using it for making Pagemaker, Illustrator and Word documents available for colleagues via e-mail (as attachments) as well as for
various web sites (including, http://healthbehavior.com). We have over 300 documents we are translating and will install them on our web page as "pdf" files with
auto downloading.

Thus far, our experience to change documents have been relatively goof proof. As a matter of fact all of our Adobe Illustrator files (artist developed handouts,
certificates, newsletters, English, Arabic and Spanish parent take-home letter, and posters for K-5 health ed curriculum) translated within Illustrator, using the
"Save As" (File Menu) command. Nothing changed when the translation was made.

We are now translating our word (lesson plans, curriculum, et al) documents.

If you want to talk, give me a call.

Michael

HEDIRs,

The response to my "drunken realities" post has been extensive. Thanks to all who wrote to me. I do not mind if anyone uses my letter in their classes. I hope it helps.

Along that line, I have received several e-mails from other EMS providers who are also health educators. I have been trying to get together a group of HE/EMTs at AAHPERD but have had little success getting everyone together at the same place and time. Perhaps the e-mail is the best venue.

CALLING ALL EMT /HEALTH EDUCATORS--PLEASE RESPOND!
I am working on the idea of a book or manual comprised of stories, personal accounts and insights of health educating EMTs. If you are interested, please send me your personal stories, essays, and insights which pertain to:

1) Calls and experiences that emphasize what we teach in the classrooms about health behaviors and choices.
2) How working in EMS has made you a better health educator
3) How working as a health educator has made you a better EMS provider
4) Other insights and personal experiences that pertain to your work in EMS and your personal wellness (i.e. spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, physical, and vocational health) and/or your teaching others about wellness.

Thanks for your help with this project. I can offer no financial reimbursement whatsoever but I will give you full credit and recognition for your contributions.
