Alyson,
I just went to the site you listed. Is there a way to query only the ones
that have PhD programs in Health Education/Health Promotion?

Hey folks,
Thanks for your interst in this project. As many of you'all know, I have published and
presented a great deal in the area of the use of storytelling and the narrative in health
education. This project is an extension of that work. I am especially looking for personal
stories, insights, and introspections related to the emergency medical outcomes of health
behaviors. And yes, ER RNs and docs definately fit the criteria for inclusion. Send me
your thoughts and experiences!

Forgive my bias, but being an alum of Mankato State (now MSU Mankato) I have to tell you
that MSU Mankato would be a great place to work. They have a great health ed department
that has had a very rich history and unique place in the state of Minnesota, and, if my
memory serves me right, they are really the only game (health ed) in the state--especially
with a community health emphasis. They have a large undergrad and grad (Masters) program.
The area is great to live in also...it's about 50,000 with less than 2 hours from the Twin
Cities. Winters aren't that bad (remember, they are in southern Minnesota). Also,
Minnesota has always been a very good state in terms of education.
If anybody is interested and would want to talk to me, please drop me a line.

You have started it now - Mark. In Minnesota there is another GREAT
place to get a health education with community option degree - the
University of Minnesota Duluth, the ONLY UM campus that offers this
degree. I don't want to take away from my esteemed colleagues at MSU -
Mankato and I agree that they have a good program. Let's market the
entire state of MN - a good place to work with a supportive climate for
health education messages and messengers. And you get use to the cold
and snow!

Well, I totally screwed up my earlier promotion of MSUM. I commented that they were the
only game in town ...of course they're not...there are numerous other health ed programs
throughout the state. What I was trying to relay (and apparently did a very poor job) was
in a historical perspective--almost all of the other programs started theirs in mid/late
70s, early 80s. Apparently my medication was losing its effect. So to my Minnesota HEDIR
friends (probably former friends now) I apologize for this misstatement.
BTW, I'm too cheap to send any money to Mankato so I thought this promotion would be a
nice substitute.
