I was just reading an article regarding Senator Jeffords leaving the GOP, and he said something which I haven't heard anywhere else. He said that there were two reasons he left the GOP: 1) He did not believe that education was being funded enough; and 2) He did not believe that health education programs were being funded enough. Although there may be some underlying reasons, I believe Senator Jeffords ought to be commended for taking a stand. Hopefully, the GOP will learn from this, and health education will become an issue for both parties.

For those who would like to learn more, Senator Jeffords has written a short
letter (available on his web page http://www.senate.gov/~jeffords/ ) that
sheds light on the factors behind his decision to leave the party.
You can email him from there also :-)
