Just a reminder that HIPAA regulations specifically exclude schools because they
are covered
under FERPA (another federal law). If a person is employed by a school or shares
confidential information with a school, then that person's actions must comply
with FERPA.
The American School Health Association has worked with several other national
organizations,
to provide guidance on FERPA with respect to students' health information in the
document
"Guidelines for Protecting Confidential Student Health Information." See our web
site www.ashaweb.org
for more information on this resource.
