The American Red Cross has information on winter
weather. The following is listed below from their Web
Winter Storms
Be Ready 1-2-3 Workbook 8-page workbook that helps
children ages 5-8 learn about home fires, earthquakes,
and winter storms through activities and
demonstrations led by "experts" Cool Cat (Home Fires),
Ready Rabbit (Winter Storms) and Disaster Dog
(Earthquakes). Local Red Cross chapters can order in

Be Ready 1-2-3 Instructor's Manual Designed for adults
to use to lead the lessons in the Be Ready program,
contains plans for lessons on home fires, winter

giving information on how to reach children
effectively, working with puppets, and explaining the
program to parents. Available on-line only.
Be Ready 1-2-3 Completion Certificate. Designed to be
presented to children who complete sections of the Be

brochure that provides essential winter storm safety

language two-page brochure that provides essential

4-color that gives information on dealing with wind,
cold, ice, and heavy snow. Provides winter storm
facts, information about wind chill, hypothermia and
frostbite, and gives safety information for dealing
with winter storms at home or when traveling. Local

Safe Steps for Winter Weather. 9" x 12" trifold
brochure w/information about wind chill, snow-covered
walks and drives, and safe snow shoveling and winter

Video: Surviving the Cold video 16-minute video giving
important safety information to prevent problems when
exposed to winter weather. Produced in 1984, this
video is still current and makes an excellent visual
component for a winter storm education program. Local
