I am currently serving on a task force whose goal is to encourage the use of
www.MERLOT.org as a digital repository of links to online resources targeted to
college and university populations. A question that keeps arising is if
professors develop online resources and have the posted and reviewed on a site
like MERLOT will it carry as much weight as having the same information
published in an refereed journal? At Western we have no formal policy about
Recognition of Digital Scholarship (RDS). Some people seem to support it some do
not.
Do any of your universities have a policy regarding this issue? Any info you can
provide would be gratefully accepted.

I am considering using the Personal Lifestyle Questionnaire (Brown, =
Muhlenkamp, Fox, & Osborn, 1983) in a study examining the effects of =
stress on health in a college student population. I am wondering if =
anyone out there has used this particular measure, and would inform me of =
their thoughts, opinions, successes with it. Also, if there are any other =
BRIEF measures of health behaviors that anyone has had success with, =
please let me know. =20

CHHCS News Alert 7/30/02
HHS Reports on Effects of Malpractice Claims:
Citing the rising costs of malpractice insurance for doctors and
hospitals, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released a
report on July 24 that cites specific problems arising from the current
system, including that doctors are closing their practices, limiting the
types of patients they will see, or leaving communities where they have
long practiced.
