training event for faith and health leaders, will be held in Atlanta
September 9th to the 12th. We are accepting applications for 10 to 12 TEAMS
of four to five persons. Online and print-form applications and information
about eligibility criteria are available at

--------
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Must be received by 19 July 2002.

Institute Goals
The Institute for Public Health and Faith Collaborations, a program of the
Interfaith Health Program (IHP), fosters the capacity of public health
systems and communities to improve the complex and enduring behavioral and
social conditions under girding health disparities. The purpose of the
Institute is to create a unique learning model and environment for leaders
in faith and health organizations to develop collaborative skills for
aligning and leveraging their respective strengths.
The Institute focuses tightly on leadership skills necessary for
collaborating at community scale and specifically on collaborations between
government, private and religious networks. The design of the experience has
been developed through an extensive participatory process involving a number
of national leadership experts and community practitioners. The Institute
reflects a deep commitment to values and goals articulated in the Case for
Faith and Health found on the Interfaith Health Program's website. For more
information on the Institute, including a *downloadable concept paper*(a
more richly developed Case for Faith and Health) and a list of *Institute
Design Team* members, go to <http://www.ihpnet.org/iphfc.htm>.
The Institute May Be Highly Productive for You and Your Community, IF You:
Think at community scale and hope for transformation
(And are willing to experience transformation in your own life);
Are troubled by failures of community systems to engage disparities in
health
(And are willing to open your eyes wide to the reasons);
Are already engaged in collaborative work engaging faith and health
(and want to do more, better with concrete results);
And are willing to engage in the responsibilities and commitments listed in
the Institute application.
Costs:
We are grateful for funding through a Cooperative Agreement with the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention which covers costs for participation in
the institute. This allows us to provide for each participant:
- Lodging (food and overnight accommodations) at the Simpsonwood Conference
Center just north of Atlanta;
- Flight and travel expenses. Arrangements for air travel will be made
through the Emory travel agency to assure reasonable rates;
- Learning materials provided prior to and during the Institute;
- And an opportunity to learn and network with other collaboratives from
around the country committed to transforming their communities.

Hi, My name is Michele Broad and I recently graduated
from college with a degree in Health Education. I
currently live in Indianapolis,IN and have lived here
just a short time. I am not having a lot of luck
finding a health education position, so if anyone
would be able to offer any suggestions, that would be
wonderful. However, I finally have a job interview and
have been asked to present an instructional concept
related to any health subject for any grade level. Do
you have any cool ideas that could be presented in 15
minutes. I would really like to make a great
impression!
Sincerely,
Michele Broad
