Hello:

=20

We need a few health educator reviewers for a new folic acid counseling tutorial, which will be eligible for CE credit in collaboration with CDC. We estimate that this content review will take about 1 hour of your time and we'd ask you to be available to review the revised draft in a few weeks as well.

=20

Any interested parties should email me directly at agriffen@sbaa.org to receive a copy of the tutorial content and review instructions.

Many thanks!

AAHE Invites Health Educators to Contribute to Community Responses to Obesity

The American Association for Health Education (AAHE) is pleased to provide health education professionals with an opportunity to be leaders in helping your community respond to the Obesity Epidemic in America. AAHE leaders encourage you and your agency/school/university to develop and sponsor a "Preview Forum" on Growing Pains: Community Responses to Obesity.

Preview Forum is a Ford Foundation-funded, national project created to bridge the growing gap between local news organizations and their diverse communities. Each Preview Forum brings together community members, local leaders, journalists from all media, and newsroom managers to view excerpts of new films and television programs and to share observations about what they see on the screen and how the local press covers this issue. The goal of the project is to bridge the divide between the media and diverse communities and get them to communicate more effectively. These structured discussions are designed to open new lines of communication between local news organizations and the communities they cover and to foster news coverage that reflects deeper connections and fresh perspectives.
This fall, Preview Forum invites communities to get involved in an innovative media and dialogue project that brings together journalists and the communities they cover to talk about the emerging weight problem in America. Whose problem is it? Have we all suddenly become lazy, slothful, and self-indulgent? Has technology changed the way we spend our time (or don't spend calories)? Is it just too easy to eat too much? And to sit for too long?
As a sponsor and collaborating organization of the Fall 2004 Preview Forum, AAHE would like to encourage health educators in universities, community agencies and schools to develop and host a Forum on Obesity in your community.
The Preview Forum Project provides everything you need to conduct such a Forum and provide this important leadership in your community and it is all FREE! This Preview Forum features excerpts from the following recently released films and television programs: Super Size Me; Fat and Happy?, Scientific American Frontiers; Diet Wars, Frontline, and Fat Chance, CNN Productions.
To find out more about Preview Forum and how you can be a leader and get your community involved, contact: Preview Forum, 8 Common Street, Waltham, MA 02451, 781/893-3336, 781/893-7772 fax, previewforum@roundtablemedia.com or www.previewforum.com

Please take a few moments to let us here at AAHE know if you do provide Forum leadership in your community - or if you are instrumental in encouraging some others to conduct a Forum. We are interested in knowing if health educators find this material of interest and use. Thank you.
