Major Duties:
=B7 Manages the Health Promotion & Education unit of Sindecuse =
Health Center (SHC). Supervises (including hires, trains, evaluates =
and disciplines) employees and coordinates the delivery of design, =
implementation, and evaluation of health education programming. =
Establishes health promotion direction and develops goals, policies and =
procedures for the unit. Develops and manages the Health Promotion and =
Education budget. =20
=B7 Designs, develops, delivers and /or coordinates delivery and =
evaluation of health education and risk reduction programs, workshops, = and
discussions for students and employees on core health topics. = Develops and
maintains collaborative relationships with academic chairs = and faculty to
service classroom needs. Participates in the Division of = Student Affairs
outreach activities. Responsible for the Theatre for = Community Health Program
as a means of promoting health education for = student learning, including
development and dissemination of student = learning outcomes, learning
objectives, strategies and evaluation = criteria necessary for effective
curriculum infusion of Theatre for = Community health into all Area 8 General
Education Courses.
=B7 Responsible for oversight of sexual health peer educator =
training, gender health issues, HIV testing, and other developmental =
opportunities. Oversees, in collaboration with SHC Leadership Council, =
marketing of the Sindecuse Health Center including web site development = and
maintenance, advertising of services and activities and creation of = marketing
materials.
=B7 Coordinates assessment efforts of individual and campus =
community needs for health promotion and education by obtaining and = analyzing
health-related information that describes social and cultural = environments,
developmental factors, needs and concerns of selected = populations. Researches
and recommends "best practices" and innovative = programming. Works with the SHC
leadership Council, the SHC Director, = and the Division of Student Affairs to
create programs that improve = health on campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
=B7 Masters degree in public health, community health education =
or other related field.
=B7 Certification as a Health Education Specialist.
=B7 Three years of management experience in the field of health =
education and promotion.
=B7 Ability to work a flexible schedule with some evening work.

SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR
PUBLIC POLICY INTERN PROGRAM
The Society for Nutrition Education is pleased to announce a new program in
Washington, D.C. SNE and our Washington, D.C. government relations firm,
Waterman & Associates, are sponsoring this opportunity for students interested
in public policy focusing on nutrition education / health / or general public
policy .
SNE seeks to encourage and foster interest and expertise in nutrition education
public policy. The individual selected will experience policy development first
hand working on SNE priority issues with our government relations firm on
Capitol Hill.
Program Details:
* This is a 6 to 12 month position beginning as soon as possible with
flexibility to address the intern's needs.
* Working hours may range from 30 - 40 hours per week. Details to be arranged
with intern. For instance, a 30 hour work week would allow for the student to
arrange an individual study component with their university if they choose.
* Guidance and oversight on the legislative and regulatory processes will be
provided by the SNE Washington representative.
Duties / Tasks:
* Provide support and assistance for the SNE public policy program.
* Research, analyze, track, monitor and report on SNE public policy priorities.
* Attend relevant hearings, meetings, forums and prepare reports.
* Draft SNE updates.
* Participate in SNE Advisory Committee on Public Policy meetings.
* Provide support and assistance for Waterman & Associates government relations
projects and tasks.
Format:
* SNE duties and tasks would account for 15-20 hrs per week.
* The balance of the time would be devoted to other government relations tasks
on a wide variety of issues for Waterman & Associates clients.
* The intern will be compensated at $15.00 an hour.
Eligibility:
* Nutrition Education / Health Policy / or Public Policy student, preferably a
graduate student however undergraduate students will be considered.
* Seeking someone with excellent verbal/written skills, research and
organizational skills, strong attention to details.
* Ability to work with a team.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and respond in a timely manner.
* Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
* Familiarity/experience with legislative/regulatory process desirable but not
required.
