Public Health Reports Seek Papers for Tobacco Control, Education, Research and Training Issue - Due October 1

Public Health Reports, in partnership with ASPH and the American Legacy Foundation (Legacy), invites papers for a special issue on Tobacco Control, Education, Research, and Training in Schools of Public Health.=20

The editors are looking for manuscripts that report on:=20

- Development of scholarship programs to support training for
graduate students;
- Development and integration of tobacco control curriculum;=20
- Results from tobacco research by junior faculty and graduate
students; and
- Impact of building the tobacco control workforce in the
community.=20

While this call for papers is not limited to grantees of the Scholarship, Training, and Education Program for Tobacco Use Prevention (STEP UP) Project, we are particularly interested in papers describing experiences and outcomes relating to pre-doctoral scholarships, curricular innovation and development, doctoral dissertation research, and junior faculty research (small grants and pilot studies). A List of STEP UP grantees can be found at http://www.asph.org/document.cfm?page=3D771. Papers providing = descriptions of model tobacco control courses and programs, or historical perspectives on tobacco control research and scholarship, are also welcome.

Articles in Public Health Reports are typically between 2,500-3,000 words. Longer manuscripts, when reasonable, will be considered. All manuscripts reviewed and approved by the Guest Editors and the Public Health Reports Editorial Committee will be sent for external peer review. The Guest Editors would also like to request that those considering submission of a manuscript for this issue send a letter of intent with a proposed title, list of authors, and short description or abstract to the attention of Kalpana Ramiah kramiah@asph.org at ASPH by May 1, 2005.=20

The submission deadline for manuscripts is October 1, 2005. The publication date is planned for fall of 2006. Manuscripts can be sent electronically to the Editor of Public Health Reports, Dr. Robert Rinsky, at Robert.Rinsky@cchmc.org or by mail to Public Health Reports,
