Subject: AAHE Convention and a Call for Proposals - Deadline May 15

Greetings Colleagues:

We are pleased to share a few notes from the recent AAHE/AAHPERD convention.
Just two weeks ago the 2005 annual meeting of the American Association for Health Education (AAHE) in conjunction with the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) concluded in Chicago, Illinois. Thank you to all of you who participated and attended. It was a great success by many measures - the third largest participant registration AAHPERD has ever had in its history - and the largest number of exhibitors - with nearly 400 exhibits - and a significant increase of health education/promotion exhibitors.

We want to give a special thank you to the Illinois SOPHE Chapter and the Illinois Association of School Health which both collaborated on programming for the AAHE portion of the Chicago convention. In return we were able to provide their members with Collegial member status for the purpose of attending the meeting at "member" registration fees.
It is of interest to note that the AAHE/health educator turn out for the annual meeting has averaged more than 860 members each year over the past 3 years. The second embedded "worksite health education" conference was a success with 25-65 participants attending each session.

Now - however - the proposals for the 2006 meeting in Salt Lake City are nearly due - the DEADLINE for program proposals is May 15, 2005.
