" I am looking for research, model programs, or evaluations of health education
programs that occur within Head Start or Family Support (Resource) Centers. The
agency that I work for, Wu Yee Children's Services, is interested in developing
a health education curriculum to be targeted to our Head Start and Family
Resource Center clients. We are interested in identifying model programs or best
practices upon which we will build our own programs/curriculum. It is our
assertion that Head Start sites and Family Resource Centers provide an excellent
opportunity to disseminate haealth information, not just brochures and
pamphlets, but a health education program that engage parents and encourages
them to make healthy choices for themselves and their children. We would like to
address several topics within this curriculum such as reducing asthma risks,
environmental threats in the home, oral health, injury prevention, nutrition,
etc. In addition, I am interested in any publications that you are awae of
regarding health education in low-icome communities, or communities that have
English Language Learners. Any help that information that you have would be
greatly appreciated."
