Increase your odds of personal and professional success by submitting an
abstract proposal to the premier national health education and health promotion
conference. The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) seeks abstract
proposals for any of the following formats: concurrent session, pre or
post-conference workshop, or a poster presentation at the SOPHE 2006 Midyear
Scientific Conference, May 4-7, 2006, at the Flamingo Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas,
NV. =20

SOPHE's conference theme, "BETTING ON HEALTH EDUCATION: INCREASING THE ODDS FOR
COLLABORATION" reaches out to all professionals and public health partners
involved in health education, health communication, health promotion, community
health, and behavioral research.
Collaboration is essential for both practice and research in the profession.
Creative collaboration is critical in responding to many challenging
circumstances and odds within the professions including responding and
communicating about natural disasters and emergency situations. Increasing the
odds for a win-win situation means collaboration with both non-traditional and
traditional partners, and is a sure way to stack the deck toward improved
individual and community health. Conference sub-themes include:
* Health Communication and Health Literacy in a Changing World
* Influencing Public Health Law and Policy
* Lives in Transition: Seeking Better Odds
* Collaborating on Cancer Prevention and Control
* Making the Case of Public Health

Abstract proposals are solicited for sessions that are interactive (e.g.
facilitated dialogue, exploration of new ideas, group exercises) as well
scientific presentations that promote audience discussion (e.g.
research, case study, lessons learned, focus on process or results). An abstract
submission provides an opportunity for those engaged at all levels and settings
of health education, health promotion, health communication, to share innovative
and effective research and practice that explores new paradigms of
collaboration. Particular cross cutting themes of interest include: evaluation,
partnerships, needs assessment, response capacity, and creative and unique
collaborative efforts that increase the odds for improved health for all.=20
