Help -- We need reviewers!!!

Over 1200 elementary schools have applied for minigrants to implement the school health index. I have sent out one request for reviewers, but we need MORE! We are asking people to review 6 8-page applications between January
23 and February 23, 2006. We are extending the deadline to apply to be a reviewer to December 15. Please consider volunteering yourself and please share this opportunity widely. Reviewing grants is a great way to become a better grant writer yourself!

Here are the details:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Foundation and CDC's Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH) are offering an opportunity for elementary schools in selected states to apply for mini-grants to improve the health of school children through physical activity and nutrition programs.

Made possible by a grant from Cargill and in partnership with the American School Health Association (ASHA), these grants build upon the School Health
Index: A Self-Assessment and Planning Guide (SHI), www.cdc.gov/HealthyYouth/SHI developed by CDC/DASH.

ASHA is seeking reviewers for the applications received from schools in response to this funding opportunity. If you are willing to volunteer to read and score 3 to 6 short applications from schools that have identified projects to improve nutrition or physical activity programming for children in grades 6 and under through completion of the School Health Index, visit http://www.ashaweb.org/mini_grants.html and follow the link to Information for Reviewers.

Thanks for your assistance in sharing this information.
