Dear HEDIR and TC Healthed Listserv members,
I have two questions for those of you who work in the fitness area (personal,
private, public, school or corporate personal training, fitness instruction,
group instruction, strength and conditioning coaching, etc.).
[Note: if you don't work in fitness, but know someone who does, if you can
forward this email request to them, I would greatly appreciate it.]
First, I am looking for professional resources, such as listservs (like
HEDIR) and websites, geared towards ONLY fitness (rather than health ed
broadly). Secondarily to that, I am also looking for any websites that discuss
group instruction for professionals - discussing do's and don't, class
suggestions (including easy 32 set combinations), safety precautions, music,
etc.
Second, I understand that the following organizations are the top ones for
legitimate certification. If you have any comments about any of the
organizations, I would like to hear feedback.
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) American Council on
Exercise (ACE)
Aerobics and Fitness Association of American (AFAA)
And does anyone have knowledge or experience with:
The National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM)
Thank you.
Take care,
Deb Lafler
