2006 NSVRC National Award for Outstanding

Response to and Prevention of Sexual Violence

Overview

In addition to the state/territory/tribal awards the NSVRC presents to local leaders in the anti-sexual violence movement, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center presents national awards to individuals or organizations whose work has had a significant national impact. The NSVRC recognizes those with particularly stellar accomplishments in raising awareness or promoting prevention of sexual violence, especially when it represents work or dedication above and beyond the normal scope of their daily work or mission.=20

This year, the NSVRC has developed award categories to broaden the scope of recognition. The new NSVRC National Award for Outstanding Response to and Prevention of Sexual Violence is designed to recognize outstanding individual, group, or organizational projects designed to prevent or reduce sexual violence on a large scale, highlight promising practices, and illustrate a wide range of strategies that, together, make our world a safer place. The five award categories are: (1) Public Policy and Legislation; (2) Media and Communications; (3) Corporate; (4) Intervention; and (5) Prevention. Any individual or organization may submit a nomination form.=20

Effective immediately another arsenal for health educators will be available. The HEDIR Bulletin Board is available for individuals to make comments, exchange ideas, request information. It's not intended to replace the HEDIR but merely as another mechanism to help one's professional growth.
I will occasionally edit/remove items where I deem necessary, but it's intended to be an open forum for thoughts, ideas, questions, etc.

The HEDIR Bulletin Board can be found at www.kittle.siu.edu/comments2005
