Subject: Good web sites wanted
I am working on a project of trying to collect good web sites suitable for
middle and high school students to get additional information on any and all
health topics taught in health class. I would love to see any lists of your
favorites that are student friendly, from reliable enough groups that they will
not come and go quickly, keep up to date with current information, charge no
fees or memberships, and have a minimum of junk and advertising.
If there is enough interest, I will make the final combined list available on
HEDIR.
Thanks,
Ken Packer

I have a graduate student attending ASHA in Burbank, CA, that is looking to cut
costs by sharing a room with up to three other female students.
If you have students interested in sharing, please let me know.
Thank you.

The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) News Alerts --
September 9, 2005
SAMHSA Sets Crisis Hotline for Persons Affected by Hurricane:
Profound sadness, grief, and anger are normal reactions that many people may be
experiencing in the wake of hurricane Katrina, and the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services wants people in crisis to know they can call a hotline and
speak to a trained counselor in one of the local crisis centers across the
country.

Study Finds Most Schools Offer 'Competitive' Foods:
Asked by Congress to come up with some hard data on the extent to which schools
are offering students the opportunity to buy and eat foods not on the federal
school lunch and breakfast menus, the Government Accountability Office (GAO)
said this week that in the 2003-2004 school year, 9 out of 10 U.S. schools sold
competitive foods.

Hi All: This is a request for some feedback on the concept of "Integrative
Health". We will be following this up with a description of the views that were
expressed from our faculty but we first wanted to throw out some bait to get a
feel for the perspective nationally. Have you heard of integrative health? Do
you see it as a viable and grounded concept or not? Would you want to be
associated with an integrative health program? Thank you for anyone who wants to
bite on this.
