I am not sure how this can help, but last year when we had the very bad fires in
California, Southwest said they would do whatever customers needed who were
stranded due to airport closings. They give vouchers, new tickets and refunds.
Maybe an angry letter to American mentioning that would help?
Or, you could fly to Califronia in March for the excellent CAHPERD conf.
Good luck,
Robin

Perhaps there is another conference or destination that you can go to within a
year. Where is APHA 2006? Can you use the voucher for that flight?
Jet Blue gave me a voucher good for one year. I will be using towards the SOPHE
mid-year in Las Vegas.

>Hello,

>Is anyone else have problems with American Airlines refunding your ticket for
the APHA conference? I live about 2 hours from Philly, so I won't be taking a
plane. APHA has told me that American Airlines will change and refund peoples
money because of the contract, but they will not put it in writing. I was told
by American Airlines that they will not refund it only give a voucher to use
within a year, which won't work for me. APHA has also told me that they can't do
anything else to help. Also they said they could refund me if it was a
refundable ticket but they said it was not. That was never mentioned to me when
I made the reservation nor did it say that on my e-ticket. Does anyone have any
idea of what I else might help? I know many people who live in the
DC/Maryland/PA/NJ areas must be in the same boat here. It will be stupid to take
a plane to Philly from BWI.

Subject: Anyone out there in an HIV/AIDS Leadership Position

Hi all,
I am in the process of seeking out a new career challenge and am looking at a
leadership position at one of the larger HIV/AIDS Organizations here in
Portland. I have been out of HIV/AIDS prevention work for about eight years.
Although I have substantial technical skills related to the position (i.e.,
management, fiscal, grant-writing, board relations, etc) I would not consider
myself an HIV/AIDS content expert. Further, my HIV/AIDS experience is on the
prevention end and not on the disease management/care end of the spectrum.
Is there anyone out there who is in a leadership position that would be willing
to assess my chances of even getting my foot in the door and helping me improve
my chances of getting my foot in the door?
I know that it is a pretty steep climb for me given that we have the unfortunate
reality that HIV/AIDS is an industry with professionals who have spent a career
in the content area and that competition for the position would likely be
fierce?
oh yea, I would like to take this conversation offline : )
