Hi HEDIR's. I teach courses in relaxation, and I had a student approach me after
a class period where I had them lying down. She spoke of extreme dizziness that
only occurs when lying down, and has become more and more prevalent over the
past couple years. No dizziness seems to occur for her while standing or moving.
I am assuming this is a variety of vertigo, one which only occurs when prone or
when the head might be at the same height or lower than the rest of the body.
What I'm not sure of is what to suggest to this student. Should she see an ENT?
Could it be something more severe? Or might this simply be one of those oddities
she'll have to live with/adjust to?
If you have had some experience with this, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks in advance
Karl

This could be Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, which can be caused by minor
or major things. Usually not a serious problem and can be treated, but she
should see a physician to find the cause.

High all, I am about a third way through Chris Mooney’s book “The Republican War
on Science “ and I would like to recommend it as a text for how misguided
politics and business conspire against important public health issues. As one
synoposis put it: “This stinging indictment of how one party has placed politics
over science is a stunning account of the government's unwillingness to
distinguish between legitimate research and ideologically driven pseudoscience”
There are many lessons applicable to the classroom.

Hello All,
Can anyone direct me to a article or some source that illustrates the changing
trends of the uninsured/underinsured population in a 10-15 year span? These
statistics could be nationally or state of Illinois specific. Please, email me
with your sources. Thank you.
