Greetings-

Our department is exploring a change in name due to the length of our current name. Our programs encompass the following areas: community health education, environmental health, health services management, occupational safety, and emergency management. Do any of you from diverse departments such as ours have suggestions regarding a shorter departmental name that adequately addresses the aforementioned programs?

Thanks for your assistance.

Nancy Parsons

The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) News Alerts -- September 19, 2005

Providers Can Get Free Vaccine for Katrina-Displaced Children:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services considers all children from birth to age 18 who have been displaced by hurricane Katrina to effectively be uninsured, because they generally do not have access to medical records or proof of insurance. In line with this assumption, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced September 16 that doctors, clinics, and health departments can use vaccines from the federal Vaccines for Children Program, which are available at no charge to enrolled public and private providers, to immunize Katrina-displaced children.

Half of 15-to-19 Teen Females Report Having Oral Sex:
In year 2002 interviews by the National Center for Health Statistics, 58 percent of white females 15-19 years of age and 53 percent of black females in that age group reported that they had at some time given or received oral sex. For males, 57 percent of white males ages 15-19 and 59 percent of black males in the age group reported having had oral sex. Among Hispanic females
15-19 years of age, 48.8 percent reported having had any oral sex, and for Hispanic males in that age group, the percentage was 52.9.
