I am in the process of gathering recent, 2004-2006 resources for Consumer Health. I am interested in syllabi for Consumer Health Courses or course pack ideas.
Additionally, if you know of any videos, DVD's, or websites please let me know. Thank you for your help. I will post the information that I gather to the HEDIR listserve.

Shanel and others,

My company provides consumer health information (monthly articles for in-house publications and intranets), and we specialize in serving the corporate health manager (who is serving consumers). Stories are geared toward working Americans and their varied needs (in the areas of exercise, nutrition, stress, child health, elder care, aging, safety, self-care and disease-specific actionable information).

We also develop health content for major employee health newsletters and Web sites such as www.eMedicineHealth.com.

The big issues are readability (and we have some nontraditional ideas on that), cultural diversity (we wrote the book on this years ago), and usability (designing Web sites so people can find stuff on them, www.usability.gov).

There's an art and a science to delivering health information to consumers, and I would be happy to discuss the finer points offline with anyone who would like to brainstorm.
