Hello everyone. I am trying to access some current research that summarizes the types of campus health programs being offered by various types of institutions. Anyone familiar with such a summary and know where it might be available?

Thanks in advance

Karl

Karl:

By campus health programs do you mean health services (medical), counseling services, health promotion or wellness programs, recreation/fitness programs, .....? Within each of those types of programs/services there exists a wide variation in types of programs and services delivered. For example, medical services may range from nurse directed care to a comprehensive ambulatory care center with pharmacy, lab, etc. Health promotion/wellness may involve providing public health outreach for critical health issues, patient education, environmental management, media campaigns, etc., or some combination. What is offered across all these areas is dependant on campus size, funding available, need and perceived need, public/private, local politics, and so on.

There are some very good tools that have been developed to assist campuses address student health that have been created by the American College Health Association www.acha.org (look for Healthy Campus 2010, the Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education, and the ACHA-National College Health Assessment), NASPA www.naspa.org (look for "Leadership for a Healthy Campus), the Higher Education Center www.higheredcenter.org , NIAAA www.collegedrinkingprevention.com and others.

If you can provide more specific information about what type of program you are interested in finding research about, that would help. I would be glad to provide more specific assistance, if possible.
