Ellen...thanks for the info on the Summit. For those who are unfamiliar with the Summit or who have not participated in the past, can you give some indication of the successes achieved in the field directly related to this Summit? I think that will help many understand the real value of this sort of activity. Thanks

This is actually the first I have heard of this endeavor and I believe it is long overdue. One of my many concerns, especially in the adolescent health and sexuality fields, is that the overwhelming majority of organizations working toward common goals act as competitors and rarely, if ever, acknowledge and highlight the work and contributions of other organizations, professionals, and resources in the field, let alone synergize resources and efforts.

I certainly applaud the individuals and organizations who are working toward unifying a health profession that is inclusive and complementary of the vast talents and resources that are available. The modus operandi of self-promotion, exclusion and consequent disconnect only limits what we are able to achieve.

Thanks for sharing the information about this upcoming Summit. I will be working to re-arrange my schedule so I can attend.

This is a wonderful event in which I have had the privilege and pleasure of participating. I heartily recommend the experience to anyone able to make the time. It's personally empowering and provides great insight for future teaching and community work. And yes, it's a perfect example of what can happen when multiple organizations collaborate and focus together, all at once on a function - in this case, advocacy. Imagine harnessing that power on other professional challenges.
