Health Education, Assistant Professor

Central Washington University Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation invites applications for Assistant Professor of Health Education beginning Fall 2006. The person hired for this position will join a collegial team of active, student-centered faculty who consider it a privilege to prepare students to enter the health education profession. CWU is proud of its long and stellar reputation as one of the finest health education programs in the Pacific Northwest. More than 100 majors and minors fill the Public Health and School Health Education major and minor programs.
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to:
Teach undergraduate professional preparation & content courses such as Health Administration, Infectious and Noninfectious Disease, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, International Health, Consumer Health, Program Planning, and Substance Abuse.
Advise undergraduate Public Health majors and minors.
Other duties as assigned according to the candidate's strengths and weaknesses.
All faculty in the Department are expected to advise students, serve on department and university committees, and maintain an active program of scholarship and public service.

Qualifications:
Required
Doctorate in Community Health Education/Public Health or related field.
Candidates who are ABD, and can verify near completion of dissertation, will be considered.
Evidence of competence in teaching college/university level community health courses.
Preferred
Experience working in Community/Public Health related agencies.
Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
CHES or CHES eligible.
Ability to articulate research agenda/demonstrate scholarship in Public Health.
Ability to teach Epidemiology, Infectious, and Non-Infectious Disease classes.

Appointment: This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Summer teaching is possible.
Salary: Dependent upon education and experience.
Position Available: September 16, 2006.
