In case you hadn't heard, Lorraine Davis is going to retire from the University
of Oregon this summer. There will be an ice cream social retirement party on the
U of O campus June 13th at 3:30. If you're in the area feel free to join in the
fun (it will be on the lawn south of Johnson Hall).
While I don't know all of Lorraine's many colleagues or former students, I hope
that colleagues/friends/former students will use their respective networks to
let other folks know of Lorraine pending retirement.
I'm sure that several of you will want to send cards, notes, etc. Carol Rydbom,
Executive Secretary to the President, is the university contact person for the
event. You can send personal cards, notes, etc to her.
*Note on the envelope that it's for Lorraine Davis' retirement.

variety of steps, including:

Bottlers Agree to Limit Soft Drinks in Schools:
In an agreement with organizations committed to reducing childhood obesity,
three beverage companies that supply 95 percent of the soft drinks now sold in
schools said May 3 that they will remove sweetened beverages such as Coke and

Randy, I can't thank you enough for your support last week during AAPHERD. It is
always helpful to have such a supportive voice in a public spot. And it
currently was made known that people liked this event because it looks like
sponsorship is going to be acquired before the end of June! More details to come
on that later

I'm working with a group in East Harlem, NY developing a charter school
proposal. They are committed to the Coordinated School Health Program Model and
would like to visit or speak with a school/district that has the model currently
in place. If anyone has knowledge of this please forward contact information to
me at harris@adelphi.edu as soon as possible. Thanks.
