Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to let you know about an important new resource for = promoting healthy body image, eating, fitness and weight in young students.

=20

Many of you have valued the popular Healthy Body Image; Teaching Kids to = Eat and Love Their Bodies Too! curriculum for upper elementary age children = (1998, National Eating Disorder Association, Seattle, WA). This guide was = among the first to demonstrate significant, measurable improvement in weight = related attitudes among pubescent children, and it is recommended by the = U.S.D.H., Office of Women's Health in its BodyWise information packet for = educators. You may not be aware that a fully updated Second Edition of this popular and = proven lesson plan was released in November, 2005. This new edition has been = praised by experts and teachers alike. It is the only comprehensive lesson plan = that targets negative body image, the drive to be thin and unhealthy diet = mentality simultaneously with concerns for the rising rate of fatness. I am = writing to ask if you will help to draw the attention of health educators to this = effective resource, especially now, as many are currently choosing curriculum for = next year.

You will find a wealth of information about the Healthy Body Image = curriculum to consider or forward to others at www.bodyimagehealth.org <http://www.bodyimagehealth.org/> . You may also want to visit www.nationaleatingdisorders.org = <http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/> for information about this and other resources that this organization has = published.
