Dr. Young,
You can find some relevant presentations by simply Googling "stages of = change" filetype:ppt and also by simply Googling "diffusion of =
innovations": filetype:ppt (I got over 500 hits on each search.)
If you want only presentations in the public domain, you can add to your =
search: site:gov
You can also accomplish the same thing using the advanced search feature = of Google.
You are free to show presentations available online without permission. = But if you want to insert into your own presentations slides developed = by someone else and posted online, I recommend that you seek permission = by the developer of the slide.=20

Dear Colleagues-
You are the greatest of resources and cannot thank you enough!
Would anyone know where I can locate the operationalized term of a "daily" or "regular" cigarette smoker? Where I might be able to locate this information?
I was told 1 cigarette per day (minimum) for 30 days and I need to be accurate in this-
Thank you so very much!

Hello Dr. Young,
The terms daily smoker and regular smoker are nominal names given to typically ordinal or interval/ratio data collected by places such as the CDC. These terms have been linked to data collection systems such as the YRBS or the BRFSS, as well as other large scale surveys. To my knowledge the operationalization of these terms differs some between data collection instruments/methods and within the same instruments across time. As one example, the BRFSS website has questions documented across time (go to the website and review historical tobacco use questions). As another example, one could ask a person if they are a regular smoker (a perception question), or create a data transformation based on collected data (e.g., at least 100 cigarettes in a lifetime). As another example from the YRBS and extracted from an issue of MMWR from
1998: "Current smokers were defined as students who smoked cigarettes on greater than or equal to 1 of the 30 days preceding the survey. Ever-daily smokers were defined as students who reported that they had "ever smoked cigarettes regularly, that is, at least one cigarette every day for 30 days." I would contact some people within the CDC for clarification on the definitions of these terms across time.
The definitions or operationalization of some of these terms is likely embedded in data dictionaries that are dozens or hundreds of pages long. In some cases the answers will be much simpler. In either case, there will be someone who knows these data dictionaries or operationalization of these terms on each of the large scale CDC studies, however. I would start by asking the contact people on the YRBS or the BRFSS. I would also contact a general resource such as tobaccoinfo@cdc.gov to try to find out additional resources.
I hope this helps.
James
