I have a few items I am looking for, and hoping some of you can assist.

Topic: health promotion, for health insurance and worksite wellness.

First, I am looking for examples of worksite wellness programs, program descriptions, and point systems in place. If anyone has any that they can share, I would appreciate any files/copies or websites to reference. Also, any information on if point systems work, what kind of point/value system is best, etc. (note: I am already looking at Welcoa/Wellness Council, and the WI worksite wellness state plan from the DHFS.)

Second, I am looking for any information on direct mail and/or newsletter effectiveness, for health promotion. (Basically, is direct mail worth

doing?)

Third, I am looking for any information on the effectiveness of health fairs and typically-associated biometric screenings (like blood pressure, BMI, etc.). (Again, are health fairs and screenings worth doing?)

Fourth, I am researching HRAs, when done alone, or combined with other efforts..by stand alone HRA vendors, or broader health management or health communication companies, and would like to know from fellow health eds with direct experience with using HRAs, which ones are good/bad, why certain ones are chosen or not, what companies, pros/cons, problems, effectiveness, and so on. (We are using NCQA standards)

Any research, papers, articles, books or websites will be appreciated.

Also, any program descriptions, program evaluations, or existing effective point systems will be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, if you have personally "learned" pros/cons or "what did NOT work"

from your own experience (for the issues in this email or any related initiatives), that information would be helpful too. And if you can't answer this, but know someone who might be able to, please feel free to forward this request on to your colleagues.

Please email directly, rather than to the HEDIR list/group, as to not bother anyone not related to this issue. If anyone would like copies of responses, please email me and let me know.

Thank you.

Hi all,

I was just given a link to a pretty innovative web advocacy campaign supporting minimum wage ballot initiatives that are on the ballots in Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. Looks interesting. http://www.sevendaysatminimumwage.org/.

Hi all,

In the next legislative session for Oregon, it looks like the governor (if re-elected --can't believe I have to insert that disclaimer) will be forwarding a tobacco tax hike to the legislators. However, there are also some legislators who are also going to be reintroducing an increase in the alcohol tax. My question is if there are any states that have examples of two worthy "sin taxes" colliding? I could envision both bills going down in flames with both alcohol and tobacco lobbyists tag teaming the legislators OR I could see the two bills combined with watered down language.... Am I just making up things or is it possible for things to get muddled by trying to do too much good on the backs of sinners? (tongue in cheek language)

; )
