Subject: HEDIR Technology Call for Abstracts
** Submit to the HEDIR Technology Seminar
**
Greetings fellow HEDIRites,
The Call for the 2008 HEDIR Technology Seminar, held in conjunction with AAHE and the AAHE Convention in Fort Worth (in April, 2008) is now being officially made. If you would like to submit something for the HEDIR Technology Seminar, please go to www.hedir.org/technology
For those of you who have attended this seminar, it is one of the highlights of the conference. It is one of the most well-attended presentations at the conference where between between 15-25 individuals/groups showcase what they are doing using technology to advance health education. If you are doing something with technology that you would like to share with other health educators at a national level, please consider submitting an abstract.
The deadline for submissions is September 16. Your abstract will be reviewed and you will know within two weeks.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Again, the website is www.hedir.org/technology

Subject: Query: Men's Health Courses
** Submit to the HEDIR Technology Seminar
**
Dear Colleagues,
I am initiating a formal exploratory research project into the prevalence and nature of men's health courses offered at the college and post-graduate level. I ask for your assistance in the identification of Men's Health courses and/or instructors that are currently teaching men's health courses, or have done so anytime since the year 2000.
(Note: I am looking for courses where men's health is the sole or predominant content; not a course in gender studies or health studies with a bit of men's health content). Limitation of this project is also to the English-speaking countries of: US, Canada, England, and Australia.
I myself have taught a collegiate Men's Health course at the baccalaureate level for three years at a private Northeast college in the US. Mine has integrated a gender studies orientation with a health promotion framework across the life span. I have also been actively involved in men's health promotion for over 15 years, as a formal consultant to both the public and private sectors, and as an author and teacher.=20
If able, would you please:=20
1. identify yourself if you are and/or have been a teacher of a men's health course, 2. identify another colleague (with contact information, if possible) who has done so, and/or 3. forward this message on to any individual, listserv, or organization that you might consider valuable to my inquiry. Please note the email distribution above for reference.
My survey instrument is developed, and a timely process of data gathering will occur. I anticipate the data analysis portion of this research project being completed by early-2008, with a journal manuscript prepared soon thereafter.
I thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Joe Zoske, MS, MSW
