For those of you who are in the academic world, welcome back to a new academic year.

Besides the academicians, all others might be interested in this reminder.if you would like to submit something to the HEDIR Technology Seminar for next spring (Fort Worth), go to www.hedir.org/technology  The deadline is mid-September.

Another note for all.

As you all know, the HEDIR is designed for those in health education.regardless of setting.  In addition, there are some others who have a vested interest in health education.  Those individuals may include book publishers, association leaders, etc.  As indicated in the introductory note that all (hopefully) have read before signing up, I've asked that those individuals limit their use of the HEDIR.  In other words, I don't want a book publisher sending out an email to the HEDIR indicating they have a new book.  The HEDIR has advertising policies and that would be in direct conflict with our policies.  However, it is perfectly acceptable for a book publisher to respond to an individual who asks for information about any textbooks.  Again, I ask that they not send it over the HEDIR but they certainly can respond to the individual inquiring about the book.

On the other hand, I also ask that publishers (and others) not take advantage of this.  For example, we recently had somebody inquiry about any jobs in a certain part of the country.  A publisher then responded directly to her indicating that she had a series of books she would like for this person to consider.  Not quite related to the original inquiry.

I believe this is an isolated case and continue to be impressed with the professionalism of this list.  You can be very proud of your participation in the HEDIR (now about 1700 people strong).
