Great idea...moreover, every time you check let them know how you much you appreciate Marriott going smoke free for you can be assured that smokers will be sharing how much they dislike the new policy. Marriott needs to hear positive comments about their bold decision!

Fellowships at The National Cancer Institute
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), the largest institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is pleased to invite applications from qualified candidates for two Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) fellowships in the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) _http://dccps.nci.nih.gov/_.
The Division conducts and manages an integrated program of world-class behavioral, social, genetic, epidemiologic, and surveillance cancer research. The aim is to reduce the risk, incidence, and deaths from cancer and enhance the quality of life for cancer survivors.
Our fellowships provide an outstanding opportunity for individuals with a strong interest and/or grounding in organizational communication, health communication, marketing, behavioral research, and cancer control to gain experience within programs at the NCI.
Fellowships Available
Two CRTA fellowships in communication are available, one in the Behavioral Research Program's Office of the Associate Director, and one in the Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS). These one-year full-time positions are located in Rockville, MD, a suburb of Washington, DC.
The fellowships provide an exciting and unique opportunity to work with leaders in the field of behavioral science and cancer control. The fellows will work at NCI, the nation's leader in providing direction and funding for cancer research.
Fellows will come into contact with a large number of scientists and public health professionals representing a variety of disciplines that include public health, psychology, anthropology, and social work.
Key research areas include tobacco control, cancer screening, health communications and informatics, health disparities, health promotion, chronic/late effects of treatment, family and caregiver issues, and basic behavioral and biobehavioral science.
Both BRP and OCS accomplish their missions by directing a large portfolio of research grants and by collaborating with other government and external organizations on a variety of initiatives and activities.
Behavioral Research Program (BRP)
BRP initiates, supports and evaluates a comprehensive program of behavioral research focusing on both basic and applied research in the areas of screening, biobehavior, health communication and informatics, energy balance, and tobacco control. BRP's goal is to increase the breadth, depth, and quality of behavioral research across the cancer continuum.
Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS)
The mission of the OCS is to enhance the quality and length of survival of all persons diagnosed with cancer and to minimize or stabilize adverse effects experienced during cancer survivorship.
The OCS conducts and supports research that both examines and addresses the long- and short-term physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of cancer and its treatment among pediatric and adult survivors of cancer and their families.
Fellowship Description
The recipients of these fellowships will function as a member of the Behavioral Research Program or the Office of Cancer Survivorship and will work with staff on communication and marketing projects related to the organizational mission and initiatives.
