Folks,

I'm not much of one to promote any particular software, but I've recently come across one that I would like to share with you. The software is called SKYPE. Skype basically turns your computer into a phone. With a cheap microphone and your speakers turned on you can talk to any other SKYPE person in the world for free.unlimited. In addition, SKYPE allows you to 'purchase' a local phone number for about $35.00 a year so that people from cell phones and landlines can call you (for no additional charges).

Finally, you can purchase an outgoing call plan where you can call cell phones or landlines in the U.S. for about $30.00.and those calls are unlimited. If you don't want to pay the $30 bucks you can buy smaller packages and they charge you .02 a minute. Basically for $65 you can receive and send unlimited calling.

The quality is exceptionally good.even when one is running on DSL or Wireless. In addition, if the two people have a webcam they can have video as well as audio. Other issues that are interesting: you can have unlimited number of people on a conference call (I don't know if it's truly unlimited, but I've heard people say they have had up to 20 people talking at the same time-why, I don't know.but it's possible). AND, depending on the PDA you own, you can also use the PDA as a phone (assuming your PDA has wireless capability and you have a bluetooth that works with it).

As we are starting to have more distance based programs, this is a good software to connect with these people.remember it's free if you just talk SKYPE to SKYPE.
