Dear Student Health Staff:

=20

I am seeking multiple colleges across the nation to host-at no cost-a skin cancer awareness campaign. Save Your Skin is a skin-cancer awareness and sun-safety campaign developed by the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation, a nonprofit in Alexandria, Virginia, intending to educate young adults about the dangers of the sun and skin cancer risk.

=20

The free campaign features:

* An interactive 20 ft. long, 8ft. high exhibit wall with information about skin cancer=20

* The opportunity for students to see what they would look like at age

55 or 70 if their skin is overexposed to the sun (using AprilAge age-progression software) (See:

http://www.aprilage.com/april_in_action.html)=20

* Giveaway items: sunscreen packets and magnets with helpful tips and brochures=20

* We are adding a camera that takes a picture of someone's face to show UV sun damage-see:

http://www.paceyandpaceydesign.com/VIHA/Sun_Damaged_Skin.html=20

=20

This event would allow university health center professionals to reach students, through potential campus-wide skin cancer awareness days and/or a health fair; then, campus health centers may follow-up with same-day or later skin cancer screenings for students. We invite your health department personnel to set up tables and present information on skin cancer and your school's services. =20

=20

It's taken place already at a few colleges, including the University of Minnesota. Visit:

=20

If you'd like to team up to make this event happen in fall 2007 or spring 2008, and generate media attention plus student interest, please let me know! =20

=20

Thank you.=20

Hi! Wondering how y'all make career fairs or career tabling events at your schools or health fairs (promoting community health and community health

education) engaging and fun, and the careers appealing. We were thinking, during a generic and potentially deadly boring tabling opportunity at student orientation to create a carnival type atmosphere with standing or tabletop type games students and their parents might look at to learn about community health in general and our health ed, health admin and gerontology concentration areas while waiting to talk with someone or if they just don't want to engage but want information.

I have a powerpoint based Jeopardy template we'll use

But I'm also looking for a few old fashioned children's museum type set ups we could use. I can't build anything, so any sources of prefabricated physical content carriers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your thoughts and ideas!
