State University of New York-College at Cortland Health Department Faculty Search

The Health Department at the State University of New York College at Cortland invites applications for two tenure track positions at the rank of Assistant, or with special circumstances, at the Associate Professor level as appropriate to credentials.

Position 1: Health Education. The primary role is instruction of undergraduate and master’s level health majors in school health education professional coursework and master's level core courses in an NCATE accredited K-12 program. Priority areas of instruction are assessment and evaluation of health education and health promotion programs, statistics, and research methods. Others areas will depend on individual expertise and could include coursework in school health education methods, program and curriculum development, substance use and abuse, parenting education, and safety. Other responsibilities of this position include scholarly activity; committee work; program advisement; and graduate comprehensive exam evaluation; and thesis and research project advisement.. Ph.D or Ed.D in health education preferred, ABD considered. Doctorate or ABD status should be from a research university. Candidate must have completed or be involved in completing an independent research-based doctoral dissertation. Professional preparation and/or experience in school health education required.

Public school teaching experience and CHES preferred.

Priority areas of instruction are community health education methods, epidemiology and biostatistics, health communication, and assessment and evaluation. Others areas will depend on individual expertise and could include coursework in health informatics, health policy and administration. Other responsibilities of this position include scholarly activity; committee work; program advisement; and culminating experience advisement. Ph.D, Dr.PH, or Ed.D in community health preferred, ABD considered. Doctorate or ABD status should be from a research university. Candidate must have completed or be involved in completing an independent research-based doctoral dissertation. Professional preparation and/or experience in community health education required and CHES preferred.
