Dear Hedirites,

I have a favor to ask of you.

If you have put together a Fair before and can send me sample of your plan, I could really use the help. If you have a few ideas to share, those will also be useful.

I have a proposal due in 2 weeks and I would like to have more of my bases covered. The project will be a collaborative venture, mainly between the University of Guam, the local hospital, and the Get Healthy Guam Coalition. The 2 day event will be in early May, 2008.

One day will be for professional development for teachers to learn ways to engage their students to be more physically active and eat healthier food items and the 2nd day will be a Fair. The Fair will have many opportunities to try heart healthy foods prepared at tables, set up by local restaurants, and to engage in fun physical activities. I do not want to do the usual blood pressure, blood sugar assessments. Many groups do this already.

We need to earmark a percentage of the profits to improve the schools to be physical activity friendly. Any ideas here will be helpful too.

Thank you,

Renee Veksler

Subject: replying to the list

Hey HEDIR folks,

I have a suggestion that I hope others will agree with. I get the "digest"

(once-a-day) form of the HEDIR rather than the single messages (so my inbox doesn't get more full than it normally already is). However, with the digest form, every time someone replies to a message, or replies to a digest, and replies to the whole list, those of us with the digest form have to scan and scroll down to find what messages are new, what are replies, and what are attached to the replies (which some days seem endless, and I give us and just delete the whole thing because I don't have the time to figure it out).

My suggestion is this. When we are replying to the list (rather than the individual), could we all try to create a new message to the HEDIR rather than hit reply? For the subject, we could just copy and paste the original subject into the subject line and type a RE in front of it, so we know what the message is in response to. Or....if you reply, make sure that the only message that is attached to your reply is the specific original message that you are replying about, rather than the whole digest or all the messages/replies?

I hope you all understand what I am suggesting and why.

Thank you! Have a great day everyone.
