Assistant Professor of Health Education, Tenure Track
Position Description: Teach both undergraduate and graduate, traditional face-to-face and online courses including courses in community health, health teacher education or health promotion; advise and mentor students; pursue a research agenda resulting in publications and extramural support; collaborate with field-based colleagues; provide service to the department, college, university and profession; demonstrate the ability to obtain graduate faculty status.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in one of the following disciplines: Health Promotion/Community Health/Public Health/Health Education Teacher Education or related health area; ABD's considered; prior success as a practicing educational professional preferred; the desire and ability to work collaboratively with campus-based and school-based colleagues; ability to integrate and model the use of educational technology; CHES preferred.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

*Health Education*. Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Department of Health Education and Recreation seeks an Assistant Professor of Health Education to begin August 16, 2008. The Department offers degrees in Health Education at the B.S., M.S., M.P.H. and Ph.D. levels.
*Requirements:* The rank of Assistant Professor requires a doctorate in health education or a related field. Applicants who have completed all but the dissertation and who expect to complete all requirements for the doctorate prior to August 15, 2008, will be considered. If official evidence of the appointee's completion of the earned doctorate is not received by August 15, 2008, the position offered will be made a term, nine-month appointment at the rank of Instructor and at a lower salary than that of an Assistant Professor. Persons applying for this position must have a commitment to participation in appropriate professional associations. In addition, applicants must demonstrate potential for both quality teaching, and the development of a research agenda leading
to peer-reviewed publications and external funding. Preferred teaching
and research interests are community health education. Priority will be given to any of the following teaching and research areas:
epidemiology, public health administration, environmental health, and injury control and prevention. The position includes the possibility of a leadership role in the department's Safety Center.
