The Hormone Foundation is the public education affiliate to The Endocrine
Society, the largest professional association dedicated to endocrine-related
conditions. The mission of The Hormone Foundation is to serve as a resource for
the public by promoting the prevention, treatment and cure of hormone-related
conditions through outreach and education.

Examples of hormone-related conditions are osteoporosis, diabetes, fertility,
menopause, growth disorders, PCOS, pituitary disorders and obesity. The
Foundation's educational efforts include websites, bilingual patient fact
sheets, media education guides, public and media awareness campaigns, public
forums, leadership meetings and more.

The Hormone Foundation is accepting applications from health educators
interested in being on its oversight committee, which functions as a board of
directors. The Hormone Foundation Committee is interested in experienced health
educators with local, state, or national expertise in one or more
hormone-related condition. The health educator selected will join a committee of
mostly physicians and will help the organization to ensure its health education
efforts are successful.

Committee members must be available for a two-year appointment and must be able
to attend the three one-day committee meetings per year:=20
* September in Washington, DC
* March in Washington, DC=20
* June at the annual ENDO meeting: San Francisco in 2008 and
Washington, DC in 2009=20

Position and Responsibilities
The University of Utah invites applications and nominations for the
position of Chair of the Department of Health Promotion and Education.
Faculty rank will be Associate Professor or Full Professor depending
upon qualifications. The Chair of the Department will serve as leader
of and advocate for the Department. The Chair will also contribute to
the mission of the Department by being actively involved in research
activities and through teaching and service. The Chair reports to the
Dean of the College of Health.

The Department of Health Promotion and Education is one of seven
academic units situated in the College of Health in the University of
Utah Health Sciences Center. The Health Sciences Center includes the
Colleges of Health, Pharmacy, Nursing and the School of Medicine and
University Health Care. The Department offers a richly diverse array of
degree options: five undergraduate programs (Community Health, Emergency
Programs, Consumer Health, Provider Health, School Health); and MS, PhD

Qualifications
A doctoral degree with emphasis in or substantial relevant experience
with health promotion, health education, public health or health
sciences is required. The successful applicant will have demonstrated
leadership and organizational skills, a history of continued funded
scholarship, the ability to mentor and facilitate the faculty in the
department, and the ability to promote the department within the
University of Utah and throughout the community, region and nation. The
individual must meet the requirements for tenure within the Department.

Applications should be received by January 1, 2008 for earliest
consideration. Additional applications may be considered following this
date until the position is filled. The planned start date for the
