We currently seek an Assistant Director of Health and Safety at our National Office in Indianapolis, IN.
This position is responsible for the administration and coordination of assigned initiatives and resources focused on health, wellness and safety for collegiate and pre-collegiate student-athletes and athletic staff at NCAA member institutions. This position will also cultivate partnerships with NCAA championships staff, as well as sports rules and championship committees.
Responsibilities:
• Administer Health and Safety Speakers grant program, updating speaker's
listings and coordinating the program's evaluation.
• Coordinate and track the NCAA Sports Science grant program.
• Coordinate the development and dissemination of health and safety messages
with NCAA sponsored youth programs and Championships events.
• Serve as liaison to the vendor identified to provide collegiate injury
epidemiology outcomes and communicate those outcome to Committee on Competitive
Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports and relevant NCAA committees as
assigned.
• Serve as health and safety liaison to NCAA Sport and Sport Rules Committees as
assigned.
• Assist with the NCAA Nutrition and Performance project, ensuring alignment of
available resources and development of effective educational materials.
• Communicate with NCAA-affliated constituent groups.
• Assist with NCAA Drug Testing and Drug Education programming as assigned.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
• Baccalaureate degree in an allied health, exercise science, health promotion,
and/or sports medicine field.
• 2 years of professional experience in an allied health, exercise science,
health promotion, and/or sports medicine field.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge and interest in health promotion, wellness and sports safety.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and complex
issues.
• Ability to work independently on program and projects.
• Familiarity with intercollegiate athletics.
Preferred Requirements:
• Post- Baccalaureate degree.
• Recognized certification in an allied health, exercise science, health
promotion, and/or sports medicine field.
• Two or more years of supervisory/management experience.
• General knowledge of the NCAA and its membership structure.
• Experience with web-site management.
