To the Folks at NIU:

We are deeply sorrowed by the recent events and our hearts go out to you.

Our AVP informed us this morning that this is the third worst event on a college campus (in terms of targeted violence) behind Virginia Tech and Univ of Texas in 1965. Tragedies like these cannot be explained and defy any logical rationale, which seems to almost intensify the anguish. We will continue to keep you in our thoughts and are currently preparing care packages to support those faculty and staff, who we know from experience, will have long, intense days ahead of them. If Virginia Tech Health Education can be of any additional support please know we are here for you.
