This sounds exciting, our county Yancey County has been working on some great projects in all the areas mentioned.

I do have a question, has anyone done research and/or programs on metabolic syndrome initiated by smoking, (according to the surgeon general) that leads to teen belly fat. In an unscientific survey of middle school staff, the staff interviewed indicated that they thought that 80-90% of obese children in their schools have family members that smoke regularly in the homes.
Is anyone addressing this?

Hello everyone, I am really excited to be apart of this listserv. I am doi= ng a workshop for teenage girls ranging in age from 14 to 18 on how to talk= to their doctors. I am amazed at how much these young people do not know = what questions to ask their physician. I was wondering if anyone could give= me some guidance with running this type of group. I am located in NY and = the agencies name is The Children's Aid Society. I want the workshop to be= interactive and fun for the young ladies. If anyone is in the area and wo= uld love to come by and lend a hand that would be great too. I also would = like to give these young ladies some materials to walk away with that will = allow them to feel empowered by themselves.
