Montclair State University


Montclair State University offers both graduate and undergraduate programs in public health education. Both the undergraduate and masters programs ree accredited by CEPH.  The MPH in Community Health Education was fully accredited in Spring 2015.  The BS in public health was accredited in January 2016, unhealthy as the first fully-accredited baccalaureate program in public health in New Jersey.

The mission of the Master of Public Health program is to prepare culturally competent professionals in public health, sale with a strong focus on social justice, consistent with the missions of the University, College, and the Graduate School.  This interdisciplinary academic and experiential program trains public health practitioners with professional skills for planning, pills implementing, evaluating, and sustaining efforts to enhance population health and eliminate health disparities.  The program seeks to contribute to a diverse public health workforce by developing and nurturing a student body that represents multiple cultural, educational and professional backgrounds.

The MPH program is 42 credits. It is practice-oriented, including a 6 credit fieldwork component.  Although a few classes are available online, the program is a traditional program with evening courses, and offers both full-time and part-time options.  Its strong commitment to social justice and reduction of health disparities is a key foundation of the program, and is reflected in the faculty research, coursework, fieldwork options, and in the positions that our alumni hold.
